Cat-Nab Cat Teaching on ChalkboardCats are majestic and smart creatures that are known for their unique and distinguished behavior. They possess a number of admirable qualities and characteristics that we humans can aspire to emulate. The vast majority of their behaviors ensure that they stay mentally sharp and in great physical shape.  As such, we humans can take a lesson or two and learn from these cute four-legged felines.

Cats have a certain confidence that their life has a meaning and a purpose, therefore, everything they do is important. There are many lessons that can be learnt from these fluffy little creatures, but we will emphasis the five most important ones that can be used and applied immediately.

  1.  Self Care

The first lesson to learn from a cat is self-care. Cats are masters of self-care. They purr as a way to self sooth and heal themselves and if an animal can be so kind to themselves, then we should be more respectful and affectionate to ourselves as well.

Self-care is extremely important for our physical and mental well-being.  A few examples of self-care activities you can incorporate into your life are listening to music, cooking healthy and  nutritious meals, forgiving yourself and others, eliminating negative self-talk,  taking up a hobby or walking in nature.  These activities can  relieve and counteract the pressures that comes with everyday life.

  1. Focus

The second lesson anyone can learn from cats is to focus on what we really want. Cats are determined and very practical. They are known for their curiosity and ability to never give up when they want something bad enough. They teach us to never lose our curiosity to grow and learn and that any perceived obstacles or setback is only temporary

It is important that we should never stop chasing our dreams and we are more likely to be successful if we remain focused on achieving our goals and objectives in life.

  1. Attentive

The third valuable lesson we can learn from cats is to be attentive in the here and now. Cats are always vigilant and aware of what’s going on in their environment.  Even when they are taking naps, they are always paying attention.  It is important to learn from them to be mindful and enjoy the present moment rather than being distracted by your cell phone, electronic devices or social media.  Your quality of life and relationships will improve immensely when you become aware of the richness of life around you.

  1. Rest

The fourth important lesson that can be learnt from cats is their ability to getting enough rest. Cats are experts in taking soothing naps in warm sunrays beaming through the windows. They know how to get enough quality sleep and current research has shown how vital and critical getting quality sleep is to our physical, mental and emotional health and well-being.   Sleeping is the time when your body and brain recover, regenerate, and strengthen. Reaction time, strength, fat loss, creativity, clarity in thought and emotion are just a small sample of the things that improve with a good night sleep.

  1. Love

Lastly, cats teach us to acknowledge and love those who feeds us. Cats usually know those who feed them. These people are often held in higher regard than others in the household and are more often the recipients of snuggles, head butts etc. Likewise, it is expected that we should appreciate people in our lives, who loves us, care, nurture and probably feeds us.
